I was told by my naturopath that “like cures like”. In that spirit, it makes sense that if your skin is naturally oily, you would use oil to attract the oil off the surface of the skin. I use coconut oil to remove my cosmetics, then I follow with a warm cloth wipe off. After that, I moisturize with 100% aloe vera from the health food store. It is runny, but it dilutes the remaining coconut residue and leaves my skin feeling soft, and the pores feel as though they can breath. I only have about 1TB of oil a day, I don’t always use Coconut, sometimes I use peanut or avocado. My skin looks much better than it used to and my make up comes off like a dream.
That said, if your skin is naturally dry, your pores likely aren’t large, and it makes sense that too much oil would potentially aggravate or offend it, causing a breakout. I think everything in moderation!! Good luck with it!
It’s all well and good treating bacne from the outside, but when 80 per cent of your skin’s cells can only be reached through the bloodstream, it’s time to start thinking about dietary supplements. Try Murad ’s Pure Skin Clarifying Supplement containing Yellow Dock & Burdock to support your body’s elimination of acne-inducing toxins, zinc to reduce irritation and vitamin A to stabilise cell turnover and unblock pores. At £50 for 30 days, this is an investment, but with reports of a 55 per cent reduction of breakouts in just six weeks, this is worth parting with your cash for.

The genetic rationale behind it is that the hyperactive sebaceous glands produce a lot of sebum, leading to pimple formation. In this case, you should consult a skin specialist as home remedies and natural methods may not provide a permanent solution to your problem. For serious acne or pimples, oral medication is necessary for a particular time period. Procedures such as chemical peels and microdermabrasion can be very effective as they minimize the occurrence of acne and also reduce acne spots and blemishes ( 1 , 2 ).
